Joint accounts can support visa proof of funds when ownership and access are obvious. Problems start when only one name prints, consent is missing, or money was parked last week.

Not sure if your statement will raise questions? Run a free risk check first — no account required. Then format an officer-readable companion PDF if you need one.

Visa Pack $4.99 unlocks the clean PDF, letters, and credits after you see your flags.

When joint accounts work well

  • Both names on statements and bank letter
  • Long history of salary/household use
  • Co-holder consent letter if they are not the applicant
  • Balances match the trip or I-20 / CAS story

When to prefer a sponsor pack instead

  • Account is effectively the parent’s; you are a secondary name with no real control
  • Route rules prefer parent/partner evidence with formal consent (common on UK Student)
  • Statements omit your name

Practical checklist

  1. Download full PDF statements showing both holders
  2. Add a one-page note: relationship, who funds the trip, access rights
  3. Co-holder signed consent if required
  4. Explain large deposits
  5. Format a clean cover with average balance + currency conversion

Use visa format for Letter/A4 embassy PDFs — do not edit transactions.
